Oostereiland

On this island from the VOC era you can now find the Museum van de Twintigste Eeuw, a film theatre and the centre for historical sailing heritage.

The Oostereiland had in the past the first built island in the open sea and was the cradle of the famous VOC shipping companies. On the island the Admiralty also had a home base and there were warships moored in today's Grashaven. In addition, it has been used for years as a prison complex.
