During a walk around the inner harbour, taste the history of Hoorn and enjoy the sun on a terrace at one of the restaurants or cafes.
Due to its location on the Zuiderzee and Hoorn's involvement in the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie, the port played an important role in the rapid growth of the city in the 16th and 17th centuries. Many buildings around the harbour still remind of Hoorn's successful past. On the southwest side of the port are the main tower, the lock and the boatboys of Bontekoe. The beautiful Bossuhuizen can also be found in this area.
