Sit down on one of the many terraces on the Grote Markt and see the beautiful buildings and national monuments while enjoying lunch or drinks.
In the bustling center of Nijmegen you will find the always cozy Grote Markt. The square has known many names in the past, such as Cruys Marct and Cruys. These names were presumably given to the cross that represented the image of market law. In 1924, the square was officially named 'Groote Markt'. During the Second World War, the square was in an area heavily hit by bombing. Nowadays several buildings have become a national monument, including the Boterwaag, the Sint-Stevenspoortje and residential buildings. Furthermore you will find many cozy restaurants and terraces where it is wonderful to stay.
