Visit the Grote Markt and admire the beautiful Boterwaag that stands in the middle of the square shrouded in Renaissance shapes.
The Boterwaag is located in the heart of Nijmegen, in the middle of the Grote Markt. The beautiful building was built around 1612-1613 according to the design of Cornelis Janssen van Delft. The Renaissance shapes give the Boterwaag a magnificent view. On the right side was the city venture. The ground floor used to serve as a meat hall, with gates through which cars and carts could drive. Until 1885 the military main guard of Nijmegen was on the upper floor. The stately building is definitely worth a visit during a day trip to Nijmegen.
