Formerly a shooting range, inn and hospital, nowadays a grand-café and cinema with a beautiful view over the city centre from the tower.
Built in 1607, this monumental building on the Achter de Houttuinen was originally the practice place of the gunmen's guild where the Kloveniers shot with their 'handbuss'. In addition, the Kloveniersdoelen has served over the years as an inn and military hospital. Today it is a multifunctional venue with grand-café, cinema and exhibition space. The tower can be climbed via a staircase with leaning steps (not getting seasick). At the very top you will be rewarded with a wide view over the famous shopping street Langeviele and the rest of the city centre of Middelburg.
