One of the oldest venture buildings in the Netherlands. Admire this icon of the city and dive into the museum of the same name for exhibitions about Deventer.
In the city centre of Deventer lies the Waag, built in 1528 as a weighing house. Traders had their goods checked by calipers. The venture money was an important source of income for the city. The Waag is built in a late Gothic style and has three floors, three spider towers, a bell and a stair tower. After the dart function disappeared in the 19th century in front of the waagbuilding, it performed various functions until it became a museum in 1915. Visit the museum and be amazed by treasures and stories of the city.
