Take a leisurely stroll through the historic Haagse Bos and see Paleis Huis ten Bosch where Princess Beatrix lived for a long time.
Where the Haagse Bos used to be part of the large primeval forest that ran from 's-Gravenzande to past Alkmaar, it is nowadays a pleasant forest area that runs from the Malieveld to the municipality of Wassenaar. The forest was formerly used by Germans during World War II as a launch site for missiles. After the war, only 30% of the forest was left and much had to be replanted. Now there are 34 tree species in the forest and open air concerts are organized in summer. In the forest, Palace Huis ten Bosch was also built where Princess Beatrix lived from 1980 to early 2014.
