Step into the serene atmosphere of the Begijnhof and enjoy the tranquility in the heart of the city. The Begijnhof consists of individual homes and is surrounded by a wall with an entrance gate. The courthouse includes beguine houses, a museum, an intimate church, a presbytery and a herb garden. Beguines were women who lived as single people and were part of a community within the Catholic Church. The Begijnhof and herb garden are open daily to the public. For a small price you can visit the Beguinage Museum on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
