The Duivelshuis, also known as the Maarten van Rossum House, dates back to the 16th century, has several folk tales and owes its name to the satyrs.
In the centre of Arnhem you can see the Duivelshuis which is a city castle from the 16th century. The house was owned by Duke Charles of Gelre and was sold to Martin of Rossum after his death. Then it came into the hands of the municipality and got the name: Maarten van Rossum Huis. Yet the name Duivelshuis is still used, which is derived from the satyrs (beings where the lower body is a goat and the upper body is a human). There are several folk tales about the Duivelshuis. The house is still part of the town hall where many marriages are closed.
